Work Smart Hypnosis | Hypnosis Training and Outstanding Business Success

What makes a great hypnotist? Is it years of training? Perhaps the number of years you’ve worked with clients? How does a new hypnosis professional become a great hypnosis professional? On today’s episode, I’m going to reveal the three things that I believe are the foundational components to becoming a great hypnotic worker.

Whether you are a brand new hypnosis practitioner who has just received your certification and are looking to improve your skills, or you’ve been practicing for many years but still feel like something is missing or holding you back from advancing your practice to the next level – this episode will teach you what I believe are the foundation of every great hypnotic practice – confidence, creativity, and flexibility.

“Flexibility, creativity & confidence is like the three legs of a tripod.” – Jason Linett

  • How flexibility, creativity, and confidence are the cornerstones that feed into each other.
  • Examples of how to tailor your hypnotic approach to each individual client to achieve a more flexible practice.
  • Fit the process to the client instead of the client to the process.
  • Scripts have a time and place – like training wheels.
  • By figuring out the contextual point of view of what’s going on within hypnotic techniques, it will allow you to become more creative in your approach.
  • Confidence is something that can be taught, earned, and gained – even in a training environment.
  • There may be some truth to the phrase “fake it till you make it.” Think of it as “fooling the neurology.”
  • If the client does not have confidence in you, they will not have confidence in the process. Likewise, if you do not have confidence in yourself, your clients will sense it.

Tips for New Hypnosis Practitioners:

  • Stand on the success of your profession.
  • Stand on your passion, interests, and training.

Stage hypnosis is probably one of the easiest businesses to promote and market. As Tommy Vee says, “you will get shows from doing shows.” But how do you get your foot in the door of a new market? What markets would be open to a hypnotic presentation?

Today’s episode is based on a webinar presentation with Tommy Vee, Michael DeSchalit, and myself that took place earlier this month. The feedback and comments on the webinar have been phenomenal and the information shared among the three of us can impact thousands of hypnotic workers, not just stage hypnotists, but also clinical hypnotists as well. We talk about three key markets that have helped us grow our businesses exponentially, how you can get started within these markets, and why every hypnotist should consider looking beyond what they are currently doing and expand their marketing reach through these venues.

“We get paid to market our future events.” – Michael DeSchalit

  • How to expand and improve your business through various markets outside the clinic.
  • How to step into the fundraising market.
  • Remember: The method you do the first time doesn’t have to be the method you use the rest of your life.
  • Don’t discount any group based upon size.
  • A third-party reference is critical.
  • Do a good job, then ask if you can come back again. Build up rapport and repeat business will follow.
  • Mention during your show that you are available to do other types of shows.

“When the audience participates in the show, it’s hard to beat.” – Tommy Vee

Stage Hypnosis Markets to Consider:

  • Schools and nonprofit organizations fundraiser events.
  • Associations events.
  • Wedding receptions, bachelorette parties, and wedding trade shows.

Where do you start in growing your business? Seeing clients, teaching classes, developing e-books, online courses, webinars, and coaching programs… there are all a phenomenal way to grow and expand your hypnotic business, but how the heck do you sell these things? You could start by developing an all-inclusive course program that teaches everything your customer wants to know, but not many customers will spend a large amount of money on a package from someone they’ve never heard of before.

Instead, a better idea, and one that I use regularly in my own business, is called the “tripwire strategy.” The tripwire concept is a way to funnel your potential customers to your bigger, more expensive package offer through a series of smaller, less expensive packages. Thousands of businesses worldwide utilize the tripwire technique with significant success, and today, I’m going to teach you how you can incorporate this strategy into your own business in order to launch your first class or improve your current sales funnel.

As we think of our businesses differently, all sorts of other opportunities present themselves.

  • The concept of the tripwire strategy.
  • How using one lower priced product or service can help you sell an upgraded, larger, more expensive package.
  • There is a difference between an up sale and an upgrade.
  • The idea is to navigate people to a place where the experience becomes better and better the more they buy and engage with you.
  • What is a lead magnet?
  • How would I do the Hypnosis 101 course differently today?
  • How to incorporate the tripwire technique into your business marketing strategy
  • How to discount something someone has already paid for to sell the bigger course.
  • How to add immediacy and intrigue to your tripwire offers

Today’s guest is Scott Schmaren, hypnosis practitioner with an interesting and inspirational story on how he got into the hypnosis industry. Scott’s transformation story began in his early childhood. Scott explains that from childhood through his young adult life, he was overweight. And although he tried many different strategies for losing weight and keeping it off, he always managed to regain the weight he lost, which lead him into a severely depressed state.

In order to overcome his weight loss troubles and depression, Scott turned to learning more about how his brain worked. He learned about the art and science behind hypnosis and NLP practices and uncovered a broad range of information that has helped him not only lose the weight he wanted to lose, but keep it off and build a life he always wanted.

Today, Scott shares his powerful story, insight, and ideas on how setting goals and daily routines can help our clients overcome even the most challenging obstacles, most ingrained behaviors, in their daily lives.

Please welcome Scott Schmaren to the show!
