Karen Gray is a Registered Nurse, a Certified Hypnotist and the founder of Green Mountain Hypnosis. She helps her clients improve their lives by aiding them in unlocking the power of their subconscious mind. This episode is for those of you who are just on the verge of starting up, but something is holding you back. Karen and I discuss in depth her origin story and the strategies she used and continues to implement, both when she began her hypnosis business and what she does differently today. Michael Watson is the director of Phoenix Services, and a Diplomate of the International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association. He has been training people in Ericksonian Hypnosis and NLP for 20 years, and has trained with a number of well-known names like Richard Bandler and Robert Dilts.

Today, Michael explains how hypnosis has evolved over time, how organic it is, and how not-so-pretty it is sometimes. He explains why cookie-cutter hypnosis strategies aren’t the best approach for every client and how to validate change with your clients. He also advocates for allowing the client to fill in the details and have their own organic experiences.

“When we experience pain or elation, we become more aware of what our values are, what is important to us.” - Michael Watson

  • The shortcomings of cookie cutter tactics
  • How he changed as he learned
  • How evolutionary hypnosis functions
  • How the conscious and unconscious mind differ and interact

Howard Cooper is a Thought Field Therapist, Hypnotherapist, and a Master Practitioner of NLP. He was an assistant to Paul McKenna and worked on his training courses with him. He was the main speaker on Virgin Atlantic’s “Flying Without Fear” Course, and continue to make regular appearances in the media as an expert on fears, or anxiety. He has worked with and trained people for 14 years in small and large groups.

On today’s episode, Howard and I discuss how and why change occurs quickly. We talk about how major life changes happen in an instant, and if our mind learns an issue that quickly, we can learn something else just as quickly.  There does not have to be a correlation between something that has been an issue and how quickly it can be resolved.

“The more you are able to perform and see yourself as a performer, the more your audience accepts their change.” - Howard Cooper

  • Howard’s background in magic, and his disillusionment with the field
  • His transition into hypnosis, and the changes he saw in himself
  • His early trainings and lessons he learned
  • Seeing the client as they are and having the full expectation that change is going to happen
  • The soft skills of a performer’s mindset
  • Howard’s process of working with his clients
  • Where hypnosis happens on a daily basis
  • Howard’s message of rapid change
  • The stigma against quick change and why people question its authenticity
  • How to deal with some changes ending too perfectly, and ensuring lasting change
