  • Effective ways to become more resilient to stress
  • The complete Rapid Centering Technique
  • Duff's upcoming talk on the programming aspect of NLP
  • How to become more resilient to your stress

The “Rapid Centering Technique” Transcript:

Start with a feeling in the body. Well, actually, you start with a scenario. So, let's say someone feels anxious in a social situation. So they say, "Great, think about that social situation and step back into it and see what you see, hear what you hear and feel that you feel when you're back there now. So, what feeling do you feel?" And they'll say, "Oh, anxiety." Or whatever the feeling is. "And where do you feel that feeling in your body?" And you shut up and you let them answer and they say, you know, "In my chest and throat." "Okay, great. And how big is it? How far does it extend in the chest and throat? Is it, you know, like a narrow tube or does it take up your whole chest?" And they tell you and then you say, "And what color is it?" You know, from up until then you've been asking sort of things that seem like they're kinesthetic. But actually, when you look back, all those things could have been visual as well. The location, the size, the shape and so on. The color, the color is absolutely visual. So, some people would be like, "Huh, what do you mean color?" "If it had a color, what would it be?" That sort of classic question. And they tell you.

Then you do a very simple visualization. "Imagine in front of you is a full-length mirror. You can see yourself in that mirror, you can see your hair, color of hair, your face, you can see your shirt, the color of your shirt and if you look down towards your belly button, below your belly button about two inches, and inside your body, at the very center of your body, you can see a tiny little dot like the size of a grain of sand, no bigger than a grain of sand in fact. And you can also see that let's say red, circular shape in your chest over there in the mirror representing the anxiety. Now, in a moment on the count of three, what I want you to do is imagine in and see in the mirror that red, circular shape shrinking and getting smaller and smaller and smaller and smaller and smaller until it fits inside that tiny little dot in the center of your body over there as if there's a powerful magnet or a black hole sucking it up. On the count of three, one, two, and three. See it happening in the mirror now. All of that energy shrinking down smaller and smaller and smaller and smaller until it's sucked into that tiny little dot in the center of your being and is absorbed within it now."

And then you wait to see their face to see if they're processing or if it's happened, and you say, "Great, now that it's all in your belly because it's in your belly, you can digest fully all that energy, eliminating any of it that you no longer need. Sending it back and fully digesting the rest, just like you digest carbohydrates into glucose, digest fats into lipids. You break down proteins into amino acids. You can break down that energy into pure energy and allow it to circulate throughout your body wherever it's needed. Trusting the wisdom of your unconscious mind to do that in the right time, in the right place."

“Spinning Wheel” Technique Transcript:

“Close your eyes and take some deep breaths. Now imagining right there in the center of that feeling, right in the center of your chest where that feeling is, I want you to imagine there is a spinning wheel, and if there isn't one, I want you to put one there now. Imagine there is a spinning wheel right in the center of your chest, and I want you to speed it right up. Make it go really fast.

When it's going really fast, I want you now to see that you have the ability to drag that wheel out from your chest. Now it's going to be a few inches in front of you. Do that now. Now you've got this wheel spinning like crazy in front of you. In a moment, I'll say the word flip. When I do, imagine you can flip the wheel over. Ready? One, two, three, flip.

Now I want you to give that wheel a different color, a nice calm, tranquil color, something that just works perfectly for you. Now I'd like you to see you can bring that wheel back into your chest, back into the same spot. In a moment, I'm going to say the word break. When I do, imagine you have a beautiful big handbrake and you can slow that wheel down. Ready? One, two, three, break. Just slowing it down, slowing it down, slowing it down. Before it comes to a complete stop, you can open your eyes.”

Scott Sandland returns to the podcast today to share how to do hypnosis for teenagers. While many hypnotists talk about making sure their client is motivated for change, most of Scott’s clients are brought to him against their will. He reveals how to get teens to buy into therapy arranged by their parents and the small things you can do to make working with teenagers significantly easier. He shares his views on whether parents should remain within the hypnotherapy session. He also reveals how constant access to social media brings cyberbullies into a child’s home.

Scott co-organizes HypnoThoughtsLIVE, the largest hypnosis conference in the world, held annually in Las Vegas. In 2020, a new event, HypnoThoughts PLATINUM will launch in San Diego, California.

He is the founder of Goal Oriented Hypnotherapy. He is a practitioner of medical and dental hypnosis, working in hospitals and private practice doctor, drug, and alcohol rehabilitation centers. Scott is a mentor for members of nearly every major hypnotherapy organization, and he is a highly sought-after speaker on NLP and hypnosis. He was awarded the Certificate of Recognition from the International Association of Clinical Hypnotherapy for progressing the field of hypnosis. The Mid-America Hypnosis Conference also awarded him their first-ever “Half-a-Lifetime Achievement Award.”

Today, I share an update to THE ALL-POSITIVE PRETALK. I reveal the concepts behind the hypnotic pretalk and highlight why it is essential to talk about what is going to happen instead of what is not going to happen. I share why each statement is included in the process and describe the intention of each phrase. I also reveal how to add truisms, satisfy objections, and build rapport with your client.

Visit the WORK SMART HYPNOSIS show notes to get the transcript of this session!

Setting the stage for a successful client experience is essential, and it is during the pretalk that this should happen. If you find yourself working against your client’s goals or feel that you are not as effective as you could be, then your pretalk may need to be reviewed and revised. If your pretalk has negative elements, then these should be changed into positive statements to ensure your clients achieve their desired goals.

“If there is ever a negative, distance and dissociate, frame the process as being effective.” - Jason Linett

  • The all-positive pretalk script.
  • Why you should define your ideal client for yourself.
  • Why you should avoid negative suggestions that are not your intended result.
  • Why the intake process needs to be efficient and direct.
  • Beginning the pretalk process with truisms.
  • Satisfying objections before they arrive.
  • Building rapport within the process.
  • Pre-framing your strategies in the pretalk.

Today, I share my story of the recent office move of Virginia Hypnosis. I reveal why it was critical for me to move my office space and share insight into the decision that many businesses owners have to make; whether to buy or rent an office space. I explain the advantages of buying versus renting. I also share how the new office is set up for consulting with clients as well as hypnosis trainings and workshops.

There are many reasons you may decide to move to a new office space. Perhaps you are moving your hypnosis business into a dedicated office for the first time, or maybe you are looking to scale your business. You might want to add extra practitioners and your existing office doesn’t have space for it. Or maybe you want to move into a more affluent area. No matter the reason, moving your hypnosis office is a big decision - and one that needs careful consideration.

“You have a lot more haggling room when doing office space searches than, perhaps, you give yourself credit for.” - Jason Linett

  • Why I decided to move the Virginia Hypnosis office.
  • How the numbers helped decide whether to move to a bigger office.
  • The question of renting or buying an office.
  • Finding a mortgage or loan as a solo entrepreneur.
  • How financing can include construction and working capital.
  • The experience of using a temporary Regus office space.
  • How the new office its set-up to include consulting and teaching rooms.

Introduce the hero. Get them up in a tree. Get them down. This week’s session features THE STORY FORMULA, a process that demonstrates strength in simplicity in crafting influential stories in either a change or sales environment. Discover a three-step technique that encourages motivation in change, and how to apply the same formula to motivate your business.

Through the power of storytelling and metaphor, you’ll learn how to change the focus of your stories to create better influence. More importantly, you’ll learn how to bridge your stories to inspire your clients to take the next step. You’ll also tap into the “less is more” principle as I share how I punched up the quality of a story by taking out the details.

Without rapport, credibility, and authority it is unlikely that you will reach the threshold where a prospective buyer of your services becomes convinced that you hypnosis business is the right fit to help them make the changes that they seeking. The psychological principals of persuasion can be applied the wrong way, so these principals need to be understood when applying them to your hypnosis business.

  • The two main things that predict the success of any therapeutic intervention.
  • How dramatic shifts occur and problems get solved during the Default Mode Network; when people are doing something else.

Unexpected expenses are often the source of extreme stress. You may have an unexpected tax bill arrive, or you may have a hefty credit card bill to pay off. Maybe you have justified making a silly purchase, just because you want it. When these financial events occur, you need to leverage your business to print the money that you need and reduce the level of stress that you experience.

Today, I share with you the most popular chapter of the WORK SMART BUSINESS book: Print Money. I share the principals that will allow you to make money appear to pay off your expenses and unexpected bills and show you what happens when you start to think as a business owner and an entrepreneur. I also explain the importance of reinvesting in yourself and your skill set and explain how the Print Money principles can help you grow - and scale - your hypnosis business.

Mastering the art of designing business systems will allow you to increase your income many times over.
